While Capcom’s attention is currently drawn toExoprimal’s release and success, many fans have been keeping their eyes peeled regarding the upcomingDragon’s Dogma 2. Led byHideaki Itsuno, responsible for the belovedDevil May Cry,Dragon’s Dogma 2appears to be maintaining many of the features the first game excelled at while adhering to modern-day standards of an upscaled environment, combat, character models, and much more.

Fast Travel Portcrystals

Since there are clearly still quite a lot of details yet to be revealed about this sequel, there is certainly much for fans to look forward to and a plethora of features many hope to see addressed this time around to push the series to its full potential.

5Better Fast Travel

While fast travel is very much present in theDragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen, it operates much differently from what fans of most RPG titles are accustomed to. Without Ferrystones or Portcrystals, players can not fast-travel to designated spots on the map and will likely find themselves running all over the large map from one place to another.

DespiteDark Arisenstanding as an underrated experience entirely, its lack of reasonable fast travel features held it down from its full potential. On this occasion withDragon’s Dogma 2, Capcom will have the opportunity to implement a full-fledged tolerable fast travel system, potentially removing the need forFerrystones and Portcrystals, allowing players to fast travelto any main site they have already previously visited at any given time.

4Better Customization

Given its 2013 release, there was only so much developers could have done at the time when compared to the likes of the RPG customization available to players in the modern day. During recent successful years with the resurgence of theResident Evilfranchise, and the massively impressiveMonster Hunter World, developers now have a great template to work from this time around.

With the amount of success that has stemmed from Monster Hunter World, it would be no surprise to see the same scale of character customization in both physical and armor appearances, if not better, be implemented inDragon’s Dogma 2.This would create a single-player RPG experience that can rival the likes ofElden Ringand many other popularSoulslike games, given the high level of reception its predecessor received and this being intertwined withMonster Hunter World’s best features.

3Previews Of Skills

There are currently no previews for any skills that players can unlock for each basic and advanced vocation. When looking for new skills, players can only rely on the description of each and may end up unlocking something that does not appeal to them, ultimately leading to a waste of points at the time of unlocking.

Since this is a fundamental part of most RPG titles in the modern day, this should stand as a prerequisite forDragon’s Dogma 2, giving the title a final tweak and fix coming off the back of the first entry, allowing for faster and more efficient navigation when it comes tocharacter upgrades.

Combat

2No More Weight Limit

While some fans may not find the weight limit in RPGs egregious,Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisencertainly made it feel that way. Given the vast amount of times that players will be on foot out running in the game’s vast map, there are a plethora of items they will need to loot and take back with them for upgrades or more. Despite this being dependent on which vocation or upgrades players choose, the weight limit is a huge detriment to the flow of gameplay, especially with the lack of fast travel.

WithDragon’s Dogma 2, developers should consider completely removing the weight limit system and only have stamina depletion occur during combat, not while exploring just as some of the modders for PC have done. DespiteMonster Hunter Worldcontaining a slightly different gameplay loopand its multiplayer focus,Dragon’s Dogma 2should follow this format as it proved to be a huge success.

1Better Pawn Commands & Communication

Based on the initial reveal trailer mixed with story cutscenes and gameplay segments, it appears as though Capcom may have adhered to the idea of an authentic experience when it comes topawns inDragon’s Dogma 2. Since there is no multiplayer and still remains very unlikely to be seen implemented later down the line considering the presence ofMonster Hunter World,Rise, and the potential of a new entry in that franchise,Dragon’s Dogma 2’s pawn system will either make or break the experience.

One of the biggest problems with the first title was the behavior of pawns, whether this included them being too talkative even when requesting silence, or falling off of edges and cliffs during combat, leaving players abandoned on their own against foes. If Capcom can improve the dialogue, communication, and interactions with players between their pawns, and provide a better AI, especially in terms of allies' positioning and actionsduring encounters with enemies, then it will surely takeDragon’s Dogma 2toward its full potential.
