GTA Onlineplayers are lamenting the removed in-game email functionality. TheGTA Onlinefeature removal reduced the number of methods players have to communicate with one another, including some functionality that was unique to email that other methods like texting don’t have.
WithGTA Onlinebeing as old as it is, it’s no wonder that certain features and functions have been changed considerably or outright removed from the game. While some players may not miss the removed email function, its disappearance has disappointed some, and led to some lost memories, too.
GTA Onlineplayer JailSpread pointed out that the email functionality that was available on players' phones and computers has been removed. Previously, players had the option of voice chat, text chat, text messages, and emails to communicate with fellow players. However, following the release ofthe Chop Shop updateback in 2023, only the first three remain.
With so many options still available, there are still plenty of ways to communicate, but emails had the unique ability of being sendable to users who were offline. A player could email an offline friend, for example, and the next time they logged in they would be able to read it. Text messages, on the other hand, can only be sent to online players. The removal of the email function also means that any saved emails are no longer accessible, which JailSpread says has led to the loss of a lot of memories they’d made over the course of the game.
Responses from other fans were mixed. Several lamented the loss of email alongside JailSpread, while others didn’t realize it was ever an option, or at least never used it. Unfortunately, it’s highly unlikely that in-game emails will ever be restored.
GTA Online Changes That Fans Haven’t Liked
GTA Onlinehas removed or altered a few other things in recent times that players aren’t too happy about. TheGTA 5andGTA OnlineRockstar Editor was removedfrom older consoles earlier in 2024. Additionally, changes to the game and the addition of the GTA+ membership program led to some vehicles becoming unobtainable.
While seeing few updates or additions to a game this old would be expected by much of the community, seeing functionality andcontent removed fromGTA Onlinehasn’t gone over well with many of its players.GTA Onlineis still quite popular, but not everyone is happy with the decisions that Rockstar Games and/or Take-Two Interactive have made in recent years.
