Tesla CEO Elon Musk and musician Grimes confirm that they are having a baby together, and gamers are all makingDeath Strandingjokes. Musk has shown himself to be a gamer, having once calledTwitter the “Dark Souls” of social media, and he attended The Game Awards 2019 to support Grimes so the couple may just enjoy the memes.
On Twitter, many gamers have joked that Grimes' baby announcement post looks like it could be aDeath Strandingteaser. Gamers have compared the image, which shows Grimes with a transparent uterus with a fetus, to images ofDeath Strandingprotagonist Sam carrying a BB tank. Journalist Zoe Camp said that “I mistook the Grimes pregnancy photo for death stranding fanart at first” and a Twitter user named Catherine George also asked Grimes if she’s pregnant or if it’s “extreme"Death Strandingfanart. Some have also asked if Grimes just Photoshopped an image of theDeath StrandingBB onto her own nude photo.

Other gamers have asked if the Grimes post is just part of a teaser forDeath Stranding 2.Hideo Kojima has said thathe would like to make moreStrandinggamesbut that they would be different to the firstDeath Stranding. Getting a celebrity to post a nude pregnant photo of themselves to social media would be one way of surprising people, so fans may not be wrong there. Grimes could also just be a huge fan of the firstDeath Strandingand may want to show Kojima and everyone else how much she likes the game.
Grimes and Elon Musk haven’t tweeted about theDeath Strandingcomparisons. Musk’s last tweet was “I put the art in fart” and Grimes has kept tweeting images from her pregnancy photoshoot. However, the two will probably be excited when they find out what gamers are saying as the two of them really like video games. Musk hasdonated trees to gaming YouTubersand Hideo Kojima has met and posted photos with Grimes.
It’s also unclear whether this has gotten back to Kojima.Death Strandingfeatures several characters played by celebrities such as Conan O’Brien and Elon Musk and Grimes could potentially feature in his next game. There’s been no confirmation yet but these pregnancy memes may just give him some new ideas.
