Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
Anemo has always been one of the most supportive Elements inGenshin Impact. This is thanks to the artifact set, Viridescent Venerer, that provides priceless Elemental Resistance reductions. However, unlike the Deepwood Memories artifact that anyone can wield, Viridescent Venerer exclusively requires an Anemo unit to function. This is because it relies on the Swirl reaction.
Among the few brilliant Anemo supports inGenshin Impact, Sucrose is one of the community’s favorites. The 4-star unit is a valuable addition to her team with her Elemental Mastery boost, which will benefit any party that focuses on Elemental reactions. However, to maximize this feature, players must build her in one specific way. Not using this build is one of the most common mistakes Travelers can make with Sucrose inGenshin Impact.

7Building Sucrose As A DPS
Sucrose possesses a good kit to deal damage, but that’s not where she shines. So building her to be a DPS in her team will negatively affect her supportive capabilities.

When triggering Swirl, Sucrose transforms a portion of her Elemental Mastery to her team, which can reach above 250. That is a great effect to have, especially after the introduction of the Dendro Element. The reason is thatDendro Elemental Reactions inGenshin Impactare reliant on Elemental Mastery, which Sucrose can easily provide without messing or interfering with their reactions.
6Not Using Viridescent Venerer
Yes, it is important to stack as much Elemental Mastery as possible on Sucrose, but not to the point where it hurts the other aspects of her strength. For example, giving Sucrose two Wanderer’s Troupe and two Gilded Dreams, stacking Elemental Mastery onall her artifacts would definitely grant her moreto share with her party. However, it will strip her ability to shred enemies' resistance which is also important for her team.
As with any other Anemo Support character,it is best to play Sucrose traditionally by giving her 4pc Viridescent Venerer.

5Using The Wrong Weapons
Choosing aweapon for Sucrose inGenshin Impactcan either make or break her. As a Support, there are a lot of weapons that match her role and can add some kind of twist to it. For example, giving her Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers severely hurt her Elemental Mastery, but grants her the ability to massively increase the next teammate’s ATK by a whopping 48%. This shifts her playstyle to set the field ready for the main DPS to take it and inflict massive damage.
Other weapons like Sacrificial Fragments further enhance her Elemental Mastery and add another charge to her Elemental Skill. This allows her to Skill three times and become a decent Battery.

4Neglecting Sucrose’s Energy
As an Anemo character whose job is to control enemies and keep triggering Swirl to shred resistance, Sucrose’s Elemental Burst is crucial to keep her participation with the team ongoing, even after leaving the field. For that, she has to always be ready to cast her Burst whenever its cooldown runs out.

Playing herwithout a battery or weapons that help her regenerate her Burstwould hurt her rolein the team and break the team rotation. Having both a buffer and debuffer is the best strategy to deal damage.
3Getting The Wrong Constellations
Luckily, it’s easy for players to immediately build Sucrose and include her in their teams since he can operate without any Constellation. However, having Constellations on her helps bring moreSupportive abilities into the gameplay and allows her to take more roles.
The best Constellation for Sucrose is her C1,allowing her to be able to cast her Elemental Skill twice. Then, the next Constellation players should aim to get is herC6. Every time Sucrose infuses her Elemental Burst with another Element, she will boost that Element’s DMG by 20% or her entire team.

2Not Stacking Elemental Mastery
There are many characters that buff their team’s Elemental Mastery, but none of them are like Sucrose. On her A4 passive, she gets a new ability to share 20% of her Elemental Mastery with her teammates. This ability is what makesSucrose a must-have in any team compositionthat depends on Elemental Mastery.

Obviously, since Sucrose shares a portion of her Elemental Mastery, players have to stack as much as possible on her.Having 1000 grants her the ability to enhance her team’s EM by 200.
1Overestimating Her Crowd Control Abilities
Just like mostAnemo units inGenshin Impact, Sucrose has some crowd control abilities. While they’re effective to some degree, they’re not as good as other Anemo characters like Venti or Kazuha. Soplayers should not aim to put Sucrose in a team purely for her crowd control abilities.
Additionally, Sucrose’s abilities all have a long cooldown. Her Elemental Burst stays for six to eight seconds before entering a 20 second cooldown, meaning players will lose her crowd control for 14 to 12 seconds. Meanwhile, her Skill has a 15 second cooldown, which isn’t better than her ultimate.

Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
