A newGenshin Impactleak shows that one of the game’s main regions, Mondstadt, could receive an expansion in the coming months. Out of the four currently revealed regions, Mondstadt is one that has been part of the game since its release back in September 2020.
Even though the recently released nations are stacked with high-quality content, Mondstadt remains the favorite location for manyGenshin Impactplayers since it’s the place that introduced them to the world of Teyvat. At the start of each playthrough, players are spawned at the northern part of the region, and they have to find their way to the region’s main city, also known as the City of Freedom.

RecentGenshin Impactleaks have revealed 10 upcoming playable charactersthat will apparently be tied to the Fontaine region. However, a credible leaker named merlin_impact has pointed out that some of these characters are actually from the Anemo region and players can expect a Mondstadt expansion in the foreseeable future. Previous rumors have been hinting that the current version of Mondstadt represents only 60-70% of the whole region which is expected to expand to the north. Some fans have noticed that the fifth character from the left could be tied with Mondstadt since her outfit fits the Anemo theme.
Players hope that the new part of Mondstadt will finally introduce one of themost anticipatedGenshin Impactcharactersnamed Varka, who is known as the current Grand Master of the Knights of Favonious. According to the official storyline, Varka is currently on an expedition with the majority of the Knights of Favonious, and he left Jean to fill the role of the Acting Grand Master. Various NPCs have revealed that Varka is one of the strongest characters in Mondstadt and the Fatui Harbinger Childe calls him the “titan of the Knights of Favonious”.
While there is no official information about the upcoming map expansions, players hope that HoYoverse could rework the whole Mondstadt region as its current design does not represent its symbolic element very well, at leastcompared to the recently released Sumeru region. Fans hope to see more wind currents that will allow them to constantly fly through the air.
There is a chance that the new part of Mondstadt arrives before the next major update which will introduceanotherGenshin Impactnation named Fontaine. This region is expected to be located west of Liyue, and it will be the home of the Hydro Archon, Focalors.
