The Liyue adeptus played a major role in the main story for the China-inspired region, as well as appearing in multiple events set in Liyue. While Charlotte was a more recent introduction toGenshin Impactfans, the Steambird reporter would be the first major character from Fontaine to be revealed, appearing in the flagship event for Version 3.7. Now, leaks are suggesting both characters may share a similar role with their gameplay.

A recent update shared byGenshin Impactleaker ProjectENKA via leaker Uncle SH has revealed thegameplay roles for both Cloud Retainer and Charlotte. According to the leak, both characters are set to debut toGenshin Impact’s roster in a supportive role, with each suggested to be a healer. The post confirms previous rumors that Charlotte will be added as a Cryo four-star character, while Cloud Retainer is revealed to use the Anemo element. Neither character’s expected release window was confirmed, withCloud Retainer previously speculated to arrivewith the annual Lantern Rite.
The addition of both characters will come against steep competition withinGenshin Impact’s pool of playable healers. Characters like Kokomi and Bennett have long been popular choices for players looking to slot a healer into their team, with both powerful healing and versatility for a wide range of team comps. More recent characters like Kuki Shinobu and Baizhu have also become powerful options, especially in teams utilizing Dendro elemental reactions. Cloud Retainer will be the third Anemo healer added to the game, while Charlotte serves asGenshin Impact’s fourth Cryo healer.
Cloud Retainer and Charlotte’s introduction toGenshin Impactcomes as HoYoverse has already teased plenty more new characters coming to the game. The story for Version 4.0 showcases multiple upcoming playable characters including Navia, Clorinde, and Furina in major roles.
