This was the case when onecrafty Tarnished used an overpowered Mimic Tear Ash, which is a summon that replicates the gear and equipment of the player, to easily defeat Malenia, arguably the most challenging boss fight in the game. With the game being out for over a year now, most players have experienced everything thatElden Ringhas to offer. However, sometimes luck can create a nice little surprise, whether you’re playing the game for the first time or have 1000 hours in it.
This was the case for a user called Small_Breadfruit_882, who posted a clip in theElden Ringsubreddit of a Giant Land Octopus helping them defeat the Great Wyrm Theodorix, an optional boss fight. The battle took place in the Consecrated Snowfields region of the game, with the player using the Dark Moon Greatsword’s exclusive skill at the beginning of the clip to challenge the boss, who had a sliver of health remaining. After Theodorix launched a counterattack on the player, the Tarnished began to try rolling out of the boss’s attack range but was caught in a swipe that took their remaining health. However, before the dying animation was completed, a Giant Land Octopus came rushing in from the sides to deal the final blow to Theodorix, landing the player the “Great Enemy Felled” message, signaling that the boss was defeated.
While it is a surprise for the octopus to appear, it has happened before. Earlier this year, one player received a pleasant shock asa Giant Land Octopus helped to distract Theodorixlong enough for them to defeat the Great Wyrm. According to some users in Small_Breadfruit_882’s thread, the tentacled friends will attack Theodorix if the player can draw them to the arena, so this occurrence is not the work of a glitch.
The post also inspired other Redditors to share their experiences of not having the satisfaction of landing the final blow against bosses, with one, in particular, noting that the Death Rite Bird can fall off of a cliff.
