After weeks of rumors and teases,Fortnitehas finally unveiled the character skins coming as part of the upcoming Chapter 4, Season 3 Battle Pass, including the legendary Optimus Prime ofTransformersfame. Epic’s highly successful online multiplayer battle royale is no stranger to guest appearances from pop culture icons, especially when it comes to promoting upcoming films likeTransformers: Rise of the Beasts. For example, just last monthSpider-Man (Miles Morales) and Spider-Man 2099swung ontoFortnitein time for the blockbusterSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.Not too long after thisSpider-Versecrossover, rumors started to spread that Optimus Prime, the noble leader of the heroic Autobots in theTransformersfranchise, was going to be the next special guestFortniteskin as part of the forthcoming Chapter 4 Season 3. This latestFortniteexpansion is said to be jungle-themed, with the official title ofFortnite WILDS. Earlier today, promotional images for four of the eightChapter 4 Season 3 characterswere posted, with one of them being Optimus Prime’s look from the forthcomingTransformers: Rise of the Beastsmovie. The other skins revealed include a pink-clad Mariposa, an armored figure named Relik, and a tropical yellow attire forFortnitefan-favorite Meowscles dubbed Purradise Meowscles.
While all of these newFortniteChapter 4, Season 3 character skins look great, Optimus Prime will likely be the main draw for players looking to build and battle their way across the Island as the famedTransformershero. However, as is the case with mostFortniteguest character skins, fans might not be able to play as him right away.Fortnite’s Twitter handle recently asked players what they thought the next unlockable Tier 100 skin would be, and a response from Microsoft implied that it would be Optimus.
This would mean that players would have to play through most ofFortniteChapter 4 Season 3’s Battle Passto unlock Optimus Prime, at least until he appears in the Item Shop later down the road. Still, it has finally been confirmed that Optimus Prime is rolling intoFortnitein time for his return on the big screen later this week, along with the other character skins being added in Chapter 4, Season 3 on June 9.
