Summary

Fortnitehas another collaboration incoming, this time with the classic sci-fiTerminatorfranchise, which will see the addition of an Arnold Schwarzenegger skin. The upcoming collab is set to feature the iconic Model 101/T-800 character, although what else could be included as part of the crossover currently remains a mystery.

Epic Games' enduringly popular battle royale title is in the midst of its third season of Chapter 4. The latest season, “Wilds,” saw the central region of the current island collapse, revealing an ancient jungle with hidden secrets. While the game remains as widely played as ever,Fortnitehas been having matchmaking and sign-in issues, something many players have complained about that the developers are currently trying to find a solution for. WhileFortnitehopefully figures out the problem in the near future, the game is bringing in content from a distant future.

News of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most well-known character coming toFortniteinitially broke as something found from a handful of reputable dataminers such as Shiina, which apparently included a screenshot of the skin.Fortnite’s official Twitter account corroborated the findings a short time later, posting an image of the incoming skin with the ominous caption, “The unknown future rolls towards us.” The image features the Model 101 in dim, shadowy lighting, illuminated by what looks like embers in the background. One glowing red eye can be seen, essentially confirming at least one variant of the skin will feature some battle damage.

Fortnite’s announcement of another new crossover collaboration comes on the heels oftheFortniteandFuturamacollab, which brings the likes of Fry, Leela, and Bender onto the island. Just a couple of days since its launch, the collab includes full cosmetic sets for each of the aforementioned characters, as well as a Planet Express Glider and Zoidberg Scuttle Emote. Bender’s Shiny Metal Raygun is also a new weapon untilFortnite’s v25.30 update, which could potentially mean the addition ofTerminatorcontent at that point.

This actually isn’t the first time the two franchises have collaborated together. Early 2021 sawthe firstFortniteandTerminatorcrossover, which brought the T-800 and protagonist Sarah Connor into the game. The introductory trailer for the pair of skins showedFortniteprotagonist Jonesy teleporting into one of the final scenes ofTerminator 2: Judgement Day,rescuing Schwarzenegger’s Terminator as he’s descending into lava. The addition of the new (mostly) skin-covered Terminator could make for an interesting plot device, although it could just be an item shop cosmetic.

WithFortnitehaving previously done aTerminatorcollaboration, it should be interesting to see if any content is added in-game to spice things up. Likely a paid skin, players can soon get their hands on a free one - the Galaxy Crossfade skin - but only by competing inFortnite’s Galaxy Cup 4.

Fortniteis available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
