Insomniac Gameshas experienced a lot of success in recent years. From the release ofMarvel’s Spider-Man, which earned its place on multiple “game of the year” lists when it launched in 2018, to the well-received follow-upMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales,Insomniac has raised the bar for what fans expect from superhero games. And with the rumor mill churning out leaks and speculation about thedevelopment ofSpider-Man 2,the studio will have to outdo itself to continue to impress fans and critics.

TheSpider-Manseries isn’t the only highly regarded franchise that Insomniac is working on. Set to launch in just a few days,Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apartis already available to pre-loadon PS5 consoles. The furry Lombax and his robot sidekick are considered by many to be PlayStation icons and, withRift Aparttaking full advantage of the new console generation’s hardware capabilities, fans have high expectations for this game as well.

It seems like Insomniac is building its development team in order to maintain the high standard set by the company’s previous and upcoming releases. This month, Dave Chlystek joined the ranks atInsomniac Gamesas senior storyboard artist. Dubbing himself “The Story Whisperer,” Chlystek brings more than 20 years of experience to the table. For the past 14 years, he worked as a director at The Walt Disney Company, and before that he served as a storyboard artist at Marvel Studios for over seven years. He’s also worked with DreamWorks Animation, Cartoon Network, Sony, and Warner Bros.

If Insomniac can continue to deliver titles in theSpider-Manfranchise with rich storytelling, engaging gameplay, and top-tier graphics, theSpider-Mangames could well become what Rocksteady’sBatman: Arkhamserieswas to the PS3 and PS4 generations. If rumors are true about the development ofSpider-Man 2, the game could be one of the first superhero titles to launch that was created specifically for the PS5. With the experience gained from working onRatchet and Clank: Rift Apartcombined with the console’s technical prowess, the nextSpider-Mangame could be a true marvel.

Of course, that is if the rumors of aSpider-Man 2game being in development are true, and the team at Insomniac has revealed nothing yet, preoccupied as they likely are preparing for the launch ofRift Apart. In the meantime, Rocksteady may be looking to re-establish its reputation as the epitomic superhero game developer.Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis set for release in 2022on PC, PS5, and the Xbox Series consoles, continuing the story established in theBatman: Arkhamgames but focusing on the Suicide Squad’s antics rather than the Caped Crusader.
