Netflixhas released the first official teaser for the highly-anticipated seriesVikings: Valhalla. The upcoming show will act as a sequel to the popular History Channel series titledVikings, which ended in 2020. It was most popular for its epic battle scenes, and judging by the short teaser for the upcoming show,Vikings: Valhallawill follow in its predecessor’s footsteps.
TheVikings: Valhallateaser introduces fans to some of the characters that will be an integral part of theNetflixseries. Set 100 years after the original series,Vikings: Valhallawill explore the journey ofthe Vikings raising their weaponsto take over England in an attempt to avenge the deaths of their people. The teaser promises a lot of action, blood and gore, and offers a sneak peek into some of the battles that the Vikings will be a part of in the early 11th Century.

TheVikings: Valhallateaser begins with a pounding sound that seems to be getting closer. “I hear drums,” Louis Davison’s Prince Edmund is heard saying. “No. Shields,” Laura Berlin’s Emma of Normandy corrects him. What it is in reality is the sound of impending battle as the scene shifts to a shot of the Vikings, with shields and weapons in hand, preparing to go to war.
“You have been summoned here to avenge the death of Vikings,” Bradley Freegard’s King Canute of Denmark is heard saying in the teaser, and essentially declaring war on England. Several shots of war follow the monologue, which areas brutal as the ones thatVikingsfans have gotten used to seeing. To add to the adrenaline-pumping scenario is Leo Suter’s Harald Sigurdsson, as he reminds the Vikings of the ones that they have lost. “This blood is not my blood. It is our blood. It is Viking blood,” he says.
Vikings: Valhallawill primarily follow the journey of three main characters, including Suter’s Sigurdsson, Sam Corlett’s explorer Leif Eriksson, and his sister Frida Gustavsson’s Freydis Eiríksdóttir. The three of them feature in the show’s official poster. Showrunner and creator Jeb Stuart has confirmed that there is no absoluteconnection betweenVikings: Valhallaand Michael Hirst’sVikings. The nostalgia factor will come into play for fans of the series, but new viewers can easily tune in without having to binge-watch the original show.
Thecast ofVikings: Valhallawas announced in January 2021, and some actors make an appearance in the teaser. The series will also star Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Olaf, Pollyanna McIntosh as Queen Ælfgifu, and Caroline Henderson as Jarl Haakon.
