As players progress further intoFinal Fantasy 16, more features and content will unlock. This also includes the ability to take a breakfrom the main scenarioand do side quests. Over the course of the “Hide, Hideaway” main scenario quest, players will learn more about what is next for Clive while also getting introduced to a variety of features that will come in handy over the course of the game.

Explore the Hideaway

The first objective of “Hide, Hideaway” is to speak with Cid. However, it is not a bad idea for players to explore the Hideaway first to get a feel for the layout. Pressing the touchpadon the PlayStation 5 controllerwill pull up a map of the area. There isn’t much that players can do at the Hideaway yet, but there are several NPCs that can be talked to.

Speak With Cid

When ready, go up the stairs and through the tunnel to reach Cid’s chambers. This will trigger a cutscene that advances the story. After the cutscene is over, go back down to the main hall. At this point, players will begin to unlock some of the features of the Hideaway.

Hideaway Services

Talk to the blacksmith, Blackthorne,to learn about craftingand reinforcing armor. Players will be provided with materials to craft an Iron Belt+1 which serves as a minor upgrade. As players gather more materials they can come back to Blackthorne to improve their equipment and craft new armor.

Speak with Goetz and then talk to the group of new arrivals to progress the story. Head up the stairs and go to the Infirmary to speak to Tarja. This triggers a cutscene that unlocks a series of additional features like the shop and side quests. Speak with Charon and then gather the supplies sitting near the monument on the other side of the main hall.

Doing so unlocks another feature of the Hideaway, the Arete Stone. The Arete Stone gives players access to features likethe Hall of Virtuewhere they can practice with any abilities they have unlocked so far. To advance the story, players must load into the Hall of Virtue. After that, players can leave right away if they wish. At this point players can leave the Hideaway and continue the story. Alternatively, several side quests are available for players to start as well.

When ready to leave, go down toward the entrance to leave the HIdeaway. This will open up the world map where players can travel to the Greatwood. Upon leaving the Hideaway, the next main scenario quest will begin.
