AFinal Fantasy 14fan has added three new custom controllers to his ever-growing arsenal of unique controllers. These most recent additions to his collection allow him to gather, fish, and catch animals on the new Island Sanctuary inFinal Fantasy 14.
Super Louis 64, known as the Controller Bender, is anintrepidFinal Fantasy 14fan who has made it his goal to create custom controllersfor every job in the game. However, the release of theAnimal Crossing-like Island Sanctuary mode meant he had to take a break from his quest to become the “IRL Warrior of Light” to instead become the “Farmer of Light.”

His newest three controllers are relatively simple in comparison to some ofSuper Louis 64’s otherFinal Fantasy 14projects. Through a combination of 3D printing, existing materials, and Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons, Super Louis 64 succeeded in his endeavor. TheMinecraftpickaxe controller allowed him to gather from botany and mining nodes by swinging the pickaxe–and can be used inMinecraftas well. The fishing controller used the existing fishing rod Joy-Con controller, while the critter controller captured creatures by swinging an actual net.
In addition to controllers for the Scholar and Samurai jobs, among others, Super Louis 64 has done some truly wild controller bending in other games. He has beatenDark Soulswith a Guitar Hero controller, and he played Sombra inOverwatchwith a Nintendo Power Glove. He’s even beatenElden Ringwith a controller made of bananas. There may be no end to Super Louis 64’s creativity.
Players have beenenjoying theFinal Fantasy 14Island Sanctuarythat inspired Super Louis 64’s newest controllers. Despite being a casual game mode, many players maxed out their islands within the first couple of weeks and now find themselves wishing for more content in the game mode, which had less customization than they were hoping. With luck,Final Fantasy 14will continue to support the mode in future patches–maybe even by allowing them to have full-fledged instanced houses on their Unnamed Islands.
Final Fantasy 14is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
