ForThe Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red is leaving REDengine behind in favor of using Unreal Engine 5, though fans have yet to see how it looks in action.
CD Projekt Red has released very brief footage itself showing whatWitcher 4will look like with Unreal Engine 5, confirming that the game is going to maintain the dark fantasy aesthetic as its predecessors and little else. While fans wait for more official videos and news onThe Witcher 4, YouTube channel TeaserPlay has created a concept video that imagines what it could look like in-game with Unreal Engine 5.

For those unfamiliar with the channel, TeaserPlay creates all kinds of Unreal Engine 5 concept videos that showcase hypothetical game sequels, remasters, and remakes.The Witcher 4is the latest video from the channel, and it shows what appears to be an aged Geralt walking through various medieval towns. It’s unclear from the trailer if the character in question is supposed to be Geralt or another Witcher, but fans can watch the video and decide for themselves.
TeaserPlay has Unreal Engine 5 videos for a variety of other games, with one of the more recent ones showing what aGrand Theft Auto 4remakecould look like using Epic’s powerful new engine. However, this is one of the few concept videos from the channel that will actually come true at some point, asThe Witcher 4is actually being built with Unreal Engine 5. Of course, the official product will likely look quite a bit different from what’s on display in the TeaserPlay video.
As for when fans will get to see more of the realWitcher 4, that remains to be seen. Right now, CD Projekt Red is busy producingCyberpunk 2077DLC as well as the next-gen versions ofThe Witcher 3.The Witcher 3next-gen versionsare expected to release at some point later this year, though CD Projekt Red has not announced a specific release date at the time of this writing. TheCyberpunk 2077DLC, meanwhile, isn’t expected to release until some point in 2023, so fans of that game will be waiting quite a while to get their hands on it.
