In order to get more mod crafting options, you’ll need to scrap copies of the weapon you want to get mods for. For example, if you want to unlock the Automatic Receiver forthe Fixer Combat Rifle inFallout 76, you’ll need to keep scrapping regular Combat Rifles until you get the mod you want.
Unfortunately, this does mean that you need tons of real-life luck to get the mods you’re looking for. As you unlock more options, the odds of you getting another mod from the next weapon you scrap lowers significantly. Soon, you’ll notice that you get no mods after scrapping a weapon. This is normal, and it simply means you’ll need more things to scrap.

It’s also worth noting that boxes of premade mods may sometimes be found as loose loot lying around in the environment or inside loot containers. Once you find one, take it back home or to any Weapon Workbench, and you’ll be able to attach it to its respective weapon free of charge. However, these are fairly rare and are one-time-use only. If push comes to shove, you could always ask other players to modify a weapon for you. Consider joining active communities and ask around for someone who’s willing to help.
