Summary

AnElden Ringplayer has found an Ash of War called The Poison Flower Blooms Twice in theShadow of the ErdtreeDLC, which appears to be aSekiro: Shadows Die TwiceEaster egg as it closely resembles the Senpou Leaping Kicks combat skill. While there are a few things that are considered to be a throwback toSekiroin the base game, this is one of the first instances of such a discovery being made inElden Ring’sShadow of the ErdtreeDLC.

Elden Ring:Shadow of the Erdtreeseems to be a delight for all the Easter egg hunters, as the DLC is filled with hidden walls, bridges, items, and a lot more. Players have been thoroughly going through each of the areas to find any hidden secrets, and for some, the outcome has turned out to be perilous asElden Ring: Shadow of the ErdtreeDLC’s invisible walls are quite deceptive. Amid that, another interesting Easter egg has been discovered by a player.

In a new post on theElden Ringsubreddit, user anyfriend1 highlights a possibleSekiro: Shadows Die TwiceEaster egg inShadow of the Erdtree. The Easter egg in question is in fact theAsh of War: The Poison Flower Blooms Twicewhich is seemingly inspired by the Senpou Leaping Kickscombat skill fromSekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Both these attacks involve the character leaping high up in the air and coming down on the enemy with a kicking attack.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Sekiro Easter Egg Location

While theSekiro: Shadows Die Twicecombat skill is visually pretty much the same, theElden RingAsh of Warhas an added benefit. If players hit an enemy who already has a poison or scarlet rot status effect, then it also triggers a massive explosion. In order to find the Ash of War in the game, players must head north from the Temple Town Ruins Site of Grace. The Ash of War can be obtained by killing a Teardrop Scarab and is usable on all melee armaments.

While there have been other Easter eggs inElden Ringwhich are much more apparent, the references toSekiro: Shadows Die Twicehave been quite subtle. For instance, theAsh of War: Bloody Slashis considered to be a throwback toSekiro’s Mortal Draw skill which is performed using the Mortal Blade. In fact, even the Overhead Stance Ash of War, which is associated with theGreat Katana in theShadow of the ErdtreeDLC, is being regarded as a reference to the Ichimonji skill inSekiro, as they are visually quite similar as well.
