Black Adamis the upcoming anti-hero/villain film that will follow one of DC’s most powerful characters. This is also Johnson’s long awaited live-action comic book debut in the ongoing DC live action universe. The film will take place in the same world asShazam!,Aquaman,The Flash, andJustice League. In a quick Instagram video, Johnson discusses the new dates for these films.League of Super-Petswill be releasing on July 29th, 2022, which is perfect for the summer because kids are out of school.Black Adamwill no longer premiere on July 29th and will now be releasing on October 21st, 2022. In the video, Johnson points out that the film will be in theaters through the holidays, which includes Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Black Adamis one of many DC films to suffer delays. Warner Bros. has delayed a number of films that were supposed to come out this year. The Flash and Aquaman were both heroes who had movies coming later this year, only to have them delayed to next year. DC will be focusing this year for Batman, Black Adam, and Super Pets primarily.

If the movie does very well, then fans should expect to see a lot of people rocking a Black Adam costume on Halloween and a lot of seats being filled during the holiday theatrical run. Hopefully this brings more attention to characters who are less utilized in DC comic book projects. For example, this movie will introduce the cinematic version of the Justice Society, which includesDoctor Fate and Hawkman, to name a few heroes. Hopefully it raises awareness for the other heroes who are often overlooked.

The caption the actor posted teases that, “The hierarchy of power in the DC is about to change…,” which has been the promotional catchphrase used for theBlack Adammarketing. Black Adam is coming for the throne that was once occupied bypowerhouses such as Superman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman. If he’s successfully able to do that, DC may have a nice internal friendly competition on their hands.

Black Adamis slated for an October 21st, 2022, theatrical release.
