The different regions will also be home to different types of fish, meaning that players' boats must be suitably upgraded with the right equipment in order to stand a chance of catching them. Sailors should be warned, however, that in addition to their own unique treasures and mysteries, each of these isles also houses its own predators, both natural and supernatural.

1The Marrows

As the starting location inDredge, The Marrows offer a hub of sorts, located at the center of all five islands. It is also home to the largest number of NPCs and structures. Greater Marrow is the largest town in this region and is home to the Mayor, Lighthouse Keeper, Fishmonger, Builder, and Shipwright. Here the player will be able to buy crab pots and sell fish, as well as makeupgrades and repairs to their boat. Little Marrow sits on an adjacent island and is home to the Trader, to whom players can sell trinkets, as well as The Dockworker and Grieving Father, who will provide unique quests if players interact with them.

Elsewhere, Blackstone Isle is home to a mysterious Collector, a man whom players will become well accustomed to throughout the duration of the game’s story. Steel Point also has a pier where players can rest and later help the Builder establish a settlement. This region is particularly rich in Shallow and Coastal species, with Cod, Blue Mackerel, and the Grey Eel among its most common.

2Gale Cliffs

The Gale Cliffs stand to the southeast of The Marrows and are recovering from a recent ecological disaster caused by a giant Serpent. The main town in this region is Ingfell, a former whaling community that is home to the Retired Whaler. There are also Ruins inhabited by a Hermit, who will ask players to recover a family crest after his town was destroyed by the Serpent.

This mountainous region is rich with materials and fish of a predominantly Oceanic variety. These include the Stonefish, Devil Ray, and Oarfish. Players can also find the Travelling Merchant stationed across the bay from Ingfell aboard her Dusty Pontoon. Gale Cliffs are also home toa range of caves and waterfalls, as well as cavernous abysses below between which the Serpent travels, so any players making their way inward from Ingfell should be wary of this danger.

3Stellar Basin

Stellar Basin is a tropical region to the southwest of The Marrows and is home to a variety ofbioluminescent coral, kelp, and jellyfish. The Old Fortress is home to a Researcher who will provide assignments to players, including the recovery and restoration of various parts of an old Research Outpost, which has since been abandoned due to attacks from the Stellar Basin Creature. The Creature occupies the majority of the basin, so travelers are strongly advised not to sail across the center of the bay lest they wish to be obliterated by one of the Creature’s giant tentacles.

The basin is also home to a mysterious abandoned tribal village, which is home to aLost Dog players can keep or give to the Researcheras a pet. There are many pirate treasures and shipwrecks in the area, making it particularly good for dredging. This region is also home to some huge crab species and makes a great place to leave Crab Pots.

The region is home to a large variety of Hadal and Abyssal fish, but the Researcher will onlygrant players the technologyto fish in these waters once her Pursuit has been completed. The Traveling Merchant can also be located here at the Starlit Pontoon.

4Twisted Strand

Twisted Stand is an area occupying the northwest corner of the map. It is a dense, muddy swampland with a jungle that is more alive than it may seem. As a result, it is home to a variety of Mangrove fish species, such as the Catfish, Tigerfish, and the highly valuable Twinned Eels. The area is predominantly inhabited by the wreckages of old fighter planes, as well assome dangerous supernatural enemiesknown as the Mind Eaters or Mind Suckers. The Airman can be found at the Camp and will ask for the player’s assistance in ridding the isles of the Mind Eaters, in exchange, he will offer the player a Bait ability.

The Traveling merchant can also be found at the Rickety Pontoon, but aside from this, the islands are relatively uninhabited by humans. There are a wide variety of crabs and crustaceans, as well as some extremely valuable varieties of fish. For players looking to explore the full potential of this island, it will be necessary to come equipped with explosives, as many passages will remain inaccessible to players without them.

5Devil’s Spine

Located to the northeast of The Marrows, Devil’s Spine is not somewhere anyone would be advised to travel. A former settlement, the area now lies dormant and in ruins, with only remnants of its occultist former occupants. The region is home toplenty of sea life, but more often than not they are predatory species who will be seeking to hunt and disrupt players as much as possible. This can be mitigated by sailing near volcanic outlets, which will burn and scare the enemy fish away.

There are no real settlements to speak of in Devil’s Spine. However, there is an Ancient Temple housing the Fanatic, the Ancient Ruins which include access to the Devil’s Spine Lighthouse, and the Traveling Merchant can be found at the Charred Pontoon. As for catching, there are a number of valuable Volcanic and Abyssal species here, including the Defaced Skate, Twisted Shark, and the elusive Coelacanth. Equally, the ruins of the former community here can provide manyvaluable trinkets and materials for dredging.
