Choosing a build inDiablo 4is no simple matter, and oftentimes a Legendary piece of equipment can completely change the build a player had in mind. All games in theDiabloseries, includingDiablo 4, offer players some way to go back to the drawing board and select abilities (and attributes) all over again.
The difficulty of respeccing changes from game to game.Diablo 2, for example, gave players a single respecfor each difficulty, for a total of three possible respecs on each character.Diablo 3went the complete opposite direction and let players change abilities and builds at will, with no cost. The respec system inDiablo 4is somewhere in between.

Updated July 12, 2025 by Erik Petrovich: The process to respec skills Diablo 4 players can use is pretty simple to understand, though it can come with some costs. Though the process is essentially the same to respec Paragon Points, Diablo 4 players will encounter some differences thanks to the sheer number of paths possible via the Paragon system. This guide has been updated with a brief new section covering how to respec Paragon Points in Diablo 4, as well as to include details on the “Respec Mode” added to D4 after launch that helps make the methods to respec even easier in Diablo 4.
How To Respec Skill Points in Diablo 4
InDiablo 4, players can respec within the skill menu itself. They don’t need totalk to a crone at the Encampment, nor do they need to be in a town hub or other safe area. To see the skills and abilities menu, open the inventory anywhere in the world and select the “ABILITIES” tab. Here, players can see currently selected skills and passives.
Once on your Skills screen, hold down the highlighted input to enter Respec Mode. Here, you can freely respecDiablo 4skills either all at once or one at a time.

By refunding every point at once, players can start with a fresh slate and reallocate points starting from the top Basic Skills category – but sometimes you only need a few smaller changes to improve a build.
To make adjustments to a build rather than resetting it, scroll over an ability that doesn’t fit anymore, and eitherright-click on PC or hold down the refund button prompt on console. This removes one skill point from the selected ability, but it won’t remove skill points if it’s required for other abilities.

When respeccing one skill point at a time inDiablo 4, start from the bottom and work upward, and remember to remove skill points from secondary modifiers for abilities, too.
How To Respec Paragon Points In Diablo 4
RespeccingParagon Points inDiablo 4follows essentially the same process that players to follow to respec their Skill points. Once you reach max level, you continue to gain Paragon Points that can be allocated into one of five boards, up to a maximum of 300 points. Each of the Boards available to each class come with Glyph sockets, which are essential for empowering endgame builds, as well as Legendary and Rare nodes that are worth pathing towards.
But as you research your build and learn how to optimize it, you will likely want to re-spec your Paragon points. To do this, tab over to yourParagon Board on the Skills screen, then either hover over the individual Paragon node you want to refund and press the “Refund” input, or hold down the input to instantly refund all Paragon Points at once.

Just like Skills, to respec a Paragon Point, it must not have any other Points that depend on it later in the path. You can’t have a sole Paragon Point on its own, unconnected to other Paragon Points. If you just need to make a small adjustment to your build, work from the outside in to cull Paragon Point nodes that you don’t need anymore.
If you Refund All Paragon Points, you will need a fair bit of Gold, but you will be able to re-start your entire Paragon build from the starting board. This can be handy if you don’t want to use several boards anymore and don’t want to go through the tedious effort of refunding each individual point to replace them.
Diablo 4 Respec Gold Costs
Diablo 4makes it very easy to re-spec, but the convenience comes with a cost – literally. For the first ten levels, players are able to freely refund and reallocate skill pointsinDiablo 4as much as they want, though the selection is pretty limited. This helps players get a feel for what their class is like, butafter reaching level 10, respeccing starts to cost gold.
The price is far from exorbitant, at least to begin with. In the level 10 to level 20 bracket players will hardly notice the impact on their wallet – the character in the image above is level 23, when it costs around 78 Gold to refund each point.
But the price of refunding skill points rises as players spend more in their class tree. By max level, players can expect to pay thousands of gold to refund just one point, and hundreds of thousands to respec Skills and Paragon Points completely into thebest builds inDiablo 4.
This doesn’t just count for skill points acquired from leveling up.Prices will increase when players spend skill pointsearned from quests, Renown, and the paragon points system. Players have a lot of time to get familiar with their class and try out lots of options, but as max level draws closer, it’s a good idea to decide on a build to avoid these endgame costs.
