Dawning Essence is an important and valuable resource during the winter Dawning Event inDestiny 2and players can use this fast and easy method to farm it. It’s been a busy few weeks forDestiny 2players as Season of the Wish officially launched late in November, giving fans the next major piece of the story line leading to next June’s last expansion, The Final Shape. Surprisingly, players are once again interacting with Riven, a wish dragon who served as the final boss of the Last Wish raid, only this time, everyone is working together to unlock the 15th wish.
In addition to the new content, theDawning seasonal event has also arrived inside ofDestiny 2for the next few weeks, bringing a touch of Winter to The Tower. As expected, players will once again use Eva Levante’s portable oven to bake cookies for NPC characters using ingredients found during normal gameplay. Naturally, Essence of Dawning will be a key component, so players will need to find a way to stockpile a lot of it in order to eventually upgrade the Holiday Oven and complete the various seasonal challenges. While players can find it by completing various activities like public events, a new method has surfaced that reduces the grind significantly.
How to Farm Essence of Dawning Quickly and Easily
VariousDestiny 2players have come across a method where they can easily and quickly farm Essence of Dawning through the Lightfall campaign. From the Neomuna Director, set up the First Contact mission from the Lightfall campaign, Legendary or Normal can be selected for difficulty. Next, proceed through the mission just beyond the point after the Kavauust Tormentor battle but before Osiris jumps into the first drop pod. At this point, leave the mission by selecting the Change Character option from the menu, which should generate a checkpoint that allows players to jump right back into this spot.
Now, in order to keep the checkpoint, players will need to enlist the help of a friend or an additional player through LFG to reload the checkpoint each time. At this point in the mission, Osiris will jump into the first drop pod and once the player goes into the second one, the mission is deemed complete, earning 17 Essence of Dawning. Reloading the checkpoint right before this ending section basically ensures that this can continue to happen over and over, turning into a fast and easy farm for the material. What makes this method even better is that this first mission is readily available to all players, regardless if theLightfall campaignis purchased or not, so even free to playDestiny 2players can take advantage of this for now.
It’s highly likely that Bungie will move to patch this farming method in some capacity, as the studio has a long history of adjusting gameplay to prevent players from taking advantage of certain elements. However, with these seasonal events, the Lightfall campaign has been a typical farming spot for players this year. DuringGuardian Games whenDestiny 2players farm for medals, one trick many turned to also involved the Lightfall campaign and a checkpoint during the Breakpoint mission. Loading Breakpoint in Legendary difficulty allows players to farm kills following the first rally point flag, letting them die and repeating this encounter for as long as they want.
