Bungie has announced it’s making two interesting changes to the Neomuna location’s activities withinDestiny 2’sLightfallexpansion. Both of the changes, which deal with Terminal Overload matchmaking and the Vex Strike Force public event, will benefitDestiny 2players in meaningful ways. Both changes are already complete and updated inDestiny 2, as well, without players needing to restart their game or download an update. SomeDestiny 2players are likely taking advantage of the changes already without realizing it.For those unfamiliar, Terminal Overload is a matchmaking nodefound on the Neomuna map location. It isn’t a standalone mode, but rather a way to quickly join a public activity that shifts locations within Neomuna week to week. It features rewards tied to several different progression paths withinLightfall, granting players Neomuna reputation, Strand Meditations, and other area-specific rewards. It ties into the Season Journey, Weekly Challenges, and Triumphs, as well.RELATED:Exploring Neomuna in Destiny 2: Lightfall Has a Major DrawbackThe problem with Terminal Overload, an issuesinceLightfallfirst launched, is that many players felt like it didn’t actually do anything. Queuing into it would simply drop a player into Neomuna, sometimes with no other players on the map, and sometimes with no activity progression available. The biggest change that Bungie has made today is improving the Terminal Overload launch node’s matchmaking. Players will now be matchmade “more consistently” with other players rather than into empty zones.
The other change that Bungie has made isn’t related to Terminal Overload, but is tied to Neomuna activities. It’s related to theVex Strike Force public event, a particularly important public event among many within the zone. Vex Strike Force is an important and rare public event that rewards a guaranteed Exotic gear drop, as well as a Terminal Overload Key upon its first completion. Bungie has made a change so that the Vex Strike Force activity spawns more often.
While these were not urgent changes for Bungie to address, they are both important and rewarding activities. Improving them will make for a better overallLightfallexperience forDestiny 2players, particularly sinceTerminal Overload and public eventslike Vex Strike Force are something almost allLightfallplayers do semi-frequently.
There are still many issues that Bungie needs to address, particularly tied to Neomuna and content within the area. That Bungie is dropping surprise fixes and improvements week to week is encouraging to see, though. This is still just thefirst season ofLightfall. There’s a lot left to come.
