After completing the multi-week Fishing Rally quest line inDestiny 2, many players feel frustrated by the lack of meaningful rewards given at the end. Season of the Deep has been a big one for Bungie, taking the opportunity to tune andupdate a lot of coreDestiny 2mechanics and gear, adding a new underwater themed dungeon, while also kicking off a seasonal storyline that has had more than a few surprising reveals related to The Witness and the mysteries of The Veil.
In addition to Deep Dives and Salvage missions,Destiny 2now has a fishing activitywhere players can earn rewards while also taking a break from some of the more tense and action heavy moments in the game. While the activity itself isn’t perfect, as fans continue to debate the Focused Fishing buff issues with Public Events, many have come to enjoy the slower paced pastime. Unfortunately, the multi-week fishing quest has left manyDestiny 2fans with a bad taste in their mouth, warning others to not bother with it.

Recently, a new Fishing Rally event quest arrived, switching to various destinations over a period of multiple weeks and requiring players catch a large amount of fish. As players continue to work through the quest, they’ve seemingly found that the rewards don’t really match up with the level of effort required. In a new post on theDestiny 2subReddit, a user named HiddnAce revealed that players could ultimately pick from Just in Case Sword and Sole Survivor Sniper Rifle, two static roll legendary weapons that are also farmable from the H.E.L.M.
The disappointment from HiddnAce has been reciprocated from those in the comments section, especially those still waiting on theDestiny 2location specific exotic fish. While its unknown if 3 of the four exotic fish are even catchable, or still bugged, many players felt like the rewards received over the 2+ hours spent were just not worth the time or effort. In fact, some users took the opportunity to poke fun at Bungie, joking that the other exotic fish are probably locked behind an Eververse Store crossover pack for 2200 Silver.
The debate over rewards isn’t the only part of theDestiny 2experience that has been in the spotlight as of late, however. The community has been conflicted over multiple perceived issues like missing content, lack of updates towards core activities like Gambit and Crucible, and a sense of rising microtransactions. For many, keeping Dungeon key access behind a paywall islocking many players out of experiencing some ofDestiny 2’s best content.
