Bungie has officially announced the complete selection of Artifact mods being made available to players inDestiny 2’s upcomingSeason of the Deep, including newer tools to deal with the game’s infamous Champion enemies. While not as deadly as the newly introduced Tormentors, Champions still pose a significant threat to any guardians attempting to test themselves againstDestiny 2’s aspirational endgame encounters.

Since the Shadowkeep era ofDestiny 2, Seasonal Artifacts and accompanying Artifact mods have become a staple for the game, often forming the basis of season-specific builds and gameplay metas. Artifact mods usually imbue existing abilities with new benefits or boost the capabilities of a weapon class, yetmods such as Particle Deconstruction have changedDestiny 2’s PvE landscapein unprecedented ways. These Artifact mods often fall into categories of subclass-oriented mods, ability-oriented mods, weapon class-based mods, etc., with Anti-Champion mods being the most sought after. While Lightfall did introduce Anti-Champion options as a part of Subclass verbs, these weapon-specific Artifact mods are still the most reliable way to stop the Champions dead in their tracks.

In the last TWAB ofSeason of Defiance, Bungie officially announced the full suite of Artifact mods that players will get their hands on, with the Arc and Void Light subclasses receiving a significant emphasis alongside Strand as the flavor of the expansion. In Season 21 ofDestiny 2, Anti-Champion options include Anti-Barrier Auto Rifles, Unstoppable Glaives and Hand Cannons, Overload Scout Rifles and Trace Rifles, as well as the usual Subclass verbs that passively grant Champion-hindering capabilities. Notably, the Deeper Origins Artifact mod will benefit weapons from Season 20’s Defiant Battlegrounds, the Root of Nightmares raid, and armaments from Neomuna, as well as a completely new source.

The mods specified in the TWAB further elaborate on how different subclasses will benefit each other by staying near them, mainly due to the Squad Goals mod, which will provide subclass-specific bonuses to nearby allies upon a successful finisher kill. Other mods include Void-specific Armor mods that will encourage players to utilize Void Breaches, while Arc-specific mods will let players focus on the Amplified effect for additional benefit. Combined with thelist of changes coming to several ofDestiny 2’s Exotic Armors and WeaponsinSeason of the Deep, players will have their plates full of powerful new builds and revisiting old builds that function differently.

The TWAB goes into further detail aboutother changes coming toDestiny 2’s next season, including a visual overhaul to enemy combatant shields, much to the dismay of many in the community. AsSeason of the Deepapproaches its release, players can be assured that the developers will be divulging more information regarding any further changes and updates to the game.
