Last week, Kojima Productions announced that a forthcomingDeath Strandingupdate is scheduled for release in mid-December, and it will “address the most common requests from players.” At the time, the developer focused on two such requests, the ability to increase text size and the ability to dispose of individual vehicles, and now Hideo Kojima himself is back with further details on what fans can expect from theDeath StrandingDecember update.
Specifically, Kojima has revealed a brand new feature that is in testing for theDeath StrandingDecember patch, and it will make cargo transparent when it is obstructing the view ofSam Porter Bridges' Odradek. Indeed, being able to actually see an active Odradek is key when attempting to avoid BTs, and this change will make doing so much easier when carrying a significant load of cargo.

Additionally, theDeath Strandingdirectorhas offered further information on the vehicle disposal feature that was referenced in last week’s announcement. Namely, he states that while the developer is testing the ability to dispose of vehicles that are “blocking the way,” this ability will not extend to MULE vehicles. For most players, this restriction should not prove extremely problematic, but it is something that fans will want to be mindful of when maneuvering a vehicle commandeered from these enemies.
With respect to other changes that could come with the DecemberDeath Strandingupdate, there are several “common requests from players” that have not been directly touched on by either Kojima Productions or Kojima. At the top of this list of fan requests are things like a portable music player, a photo mode, and the ability to skip the Odradek animation when encounteringDeath Stranding’s BTs, and time will tell if any of these items are addressed by the forthcoming patch.
Furthermore, the exact date of the DecemberDeath Strandingpatch is still unknown, but it seems that players can expect it in the next week or two. This means that fans do not have much longer to wait before learning the full extent of theDeath Strandingmid-December update, and hopefully they will be satisfied with what it has to offer.
Death Strandingis available now for PS4, with a PC release slated for Summer 2020.
