Richter Mode is an Easter egg inDead Cells’Return to CastlevaniaDLC that gives players the opportunity to temporarily take control of Richter Belmont. While fans need not access this mode to complete the DLC, it does lead to the acquisition of a weapon blueprint and outfit. These rewards will undoubtedly draw many players towardDead Cells' Richter Mode, and this guide details exactly how to unlock it.

Unlocking Richter Mode is a multi-part process that must be completed over the course ofthree runsat minimum. In thefirstof these runs, players should begin by entering the Castle’s Outskirts from the Prisoners' Quarters to accessDead Cells’Return to CastlevaniaDLC. This will put fans on the path toward a battle with Death, and they will find themselves back on the game’s standard route after the boss has been defeated.

With Death dispatched, players are free to start asecondrun, though they should not enter the Castle’s Outskirts from the Prisoners' Quarters this time around. Instead, fans should use a standard path to reach theClock Room, the boss biome in which the Time Keeper is battled. Once that foe has been beaten, players will encounter a door that leads to a more-difficult version ofDracula’s Castle, and they should enter it.

Upon entering Dracula’s Castle via the Clock Room, fans must search the biome for the entrance to alore roomin which Richter is being held captive. This entrance manifests as agold architectural elementthat is flanked by vine-covered pillars, and players should interact with it to “cross.” Fans should then free Richter from his cage and continue their runs to battleDracula inDead Cells.

Players are now ready to begin thethirdrun, which should be approached exactly as the second run was. However,Dead Cellsplayerswill not find Richter in the lore room in Dracula’s Castle on this run, as his cage is now empty. Fortunately, fans can still interact with the cage, and doing so will initiate the Richter Mode sequence.

While this sequence is quite straightforward, players should put some effort toward unlockingAlucard’s Sword inDead Cellsbefore they complete it. To obtain that weapon blueprint, fans must find the High Jump artifact within the level and then use it to climb its tall tower. There is a hidden path on the right side of this tower, and players that pass through it will encounter Alucard and receive the blueprint for his sword.
