Dead by Daylighthas shared some good news with fans of theTexas Chain Saw Massacrefranchise. WithDead by Daylightlosing theStranger Thingslicense two years ago, many fans were afraid of the same situation happening once again, this time with iconic villain Leatherface.

In recent weeks, rumors have been circulating thatLeatherface will be leavingDead by Daylight. These rumors began upon several players finding alternate names for his killer perks on the Public Test Build (PTB), suggesting that they would be renamed in the future and made available to all players as result of the Leatherface DLC being removed. This previously happened with the Demogorgon whenDead by Daylightwere unable to renew theStranger Thingslicense with Netflix, so fans recognized the tell-tale signs immediately. It had also recently been revealed that aTexas Chain Saw MassacreAsymmetrical Game is in the works, so many fans also anticipated Leatherface might be removed fromDead by Daylightin order to be the face of his own asymmetrical game.

In a statement to Game Rant, Behaviour Interactive dispelled all rumors concerning Leatherface’s future within the game, stating, “I am glad to share with you that The Cannibal is indeed staying a part of theDead by DaylightExperience.” New players will continue to be able tolearn how to play as Leatherface inDead by Daylight.

Leatherface is simultaneously one of the most and least popular killers within the game, but fans overall seem to be quite happy that he will not be leaving the game anytime soon. Though the Leatherface play style has become synonymous with downing a survivor and camping them to death for many, so much so that it is referenced inDead by Daylight’s tweet, many players find the actual chase gameplay against him to be some of the most enjoyable in the entire game. Thoughthe currentDead by Daylightmeta has serious problems, these are more tied to perks and maps than to individual killers, Nurse excluded.

Regardless of how individual players may feel about a killer, losing any of them sets a dangerous precedent when it comes to licensing, and may lead to question marks concerning the acquisition of future licenses down the road. Thus, even for those who hate him, Leatherface staying, even if not as one of thestrongest killers inDead by Daylight, is what is most healthy for the game in the long-term.

Dead by Daylightis currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
