The Volkodav is an iconic machete introduced inCyberpunk 2077’s2.0 Update. It’s capable of dealing excellent damage per hit with its slashes, and it can also light unfortunate people on fire, making it ideal against targets with large amounts of health.
Acquiring this weapon is as simple as picking it up from its hiding place. The problem is thatCyberpunk 2077players can very easily miss the Volkodav if they get carried away by the things happening around them. Here’s where to find this fiery machete.
Cyberpunk 2077 Volkodav Location
The Volkodav is in a chest resting on top of a crate in an unassuming corner of the old NCPD police station in Pacifica. The catch here is that the interior of the building can only be accessed duringtheWaiting for Dodger gig,a new side story added with the release ofPhantom Liberty. To start this gig, head to the Dogtown entrance and look for a car highlighted by a blue quest marker on the map.
Speak with Stella in the car to start the gig. She’ll tell players that her fiancé Bill sent her an emergency message, and it’s up to V to help him. This gig involves saving Bill and his partner Charles from Dodger, a high-ranking Barghest officer with close ties to Kurt Hansen. Head into the old police department, save Bill and Charles, and get out alive, preferably without killing anybody.
If players are only concerned about getting the Volkodav, then it doesn’t matterif they use stealthor take the loud approach. Once they find Bill and Charles, players will eventually lead the pair to the basement. Take care of the Barghest soldiers in the room filled with storage crates, then look for a big, yellow generator to the right of the room’s entrance. To its left is a yellow box, and to the left of that is a pile of crates illuminated by a faint light. On top of one of the boxes is a chest containing Volkodav and possibly a high-tier cyberware implant.
Players must wait for Bill and Charles to finish their dialogue. Only then will the chest containing Volkodav become interactable.
Volkodav is a machete that has a chance to inflict a unique burn effect. Enemies ignited by this weapon will receive critical damage from incoming gunfire. According to the item’s description, the crit damage will increase based on the number of enemies that Volkodav ignites, but lighting multiple enemies on fire will reduce weapon accuracy.
This weapon functions well enough on its own, but it is clearly designed to be used with firearms. It is best paired with shotguns and LMGs since these types of guns don’t have skills that increase their crit chance.
