Taiwanese psychological horror gameThe Bridge Curse: Road to Salvationwill be making the move to console sometime later this year. When it launched exclusively on PC in August 2022, the first-personindie gamequickly became a common sight on various “let’s play” YouTube channels and has since maintained a “Very Positive” review rating on Steam.
Thesurvival horror game is based on Asian folklore, introducing intrepid players to the Taiwanese urban legend about a creepy ghost that has haunted the Tunghu University campus bridge for decades. Of course, a group of university students feels the urge to investigate and attempt to manifest the ghostly lady, a decision that they soon regret. During their ill-fated attempt to satiate their curiosity, they inadvertently unleash a terrifying curse and must figure out how to survive it.

Developed and published by Softstar Entertainment for PC,The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvationwill be coming to PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S consoles thanks to publisher eastasiasoft. Though the exact release date has not yet been revealed, players can expect to see theAsian horror gamesometime this year, and preorders for the Switch and PlayStation physical editions open on July 13 via Playasia.
There will also be a limited physical edition for Switch and PlayStation consoles that contains a few extra goodies for fans of the game: a collector’s box, game manual, artbook, CD with the game’s original soundtrack, a numbered certificate and, of course, a region-free copy of the game. It’s not clear why the Xbox console versions ofThe Bridge Curse: Road to Salvationwill not also be getting a physical edition, limited or otherwise, but perhaps those will be added to the Playasia store at some point in the future. Otherwise, the digital version will be available for $24.99.
Though it didn’t quite make thelist of best horror games of 2022,The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvationdoes have its cult following of fans. It is based on a 2020 Taiwanese horror film of the same name, and the university at which the story takes place is a real school in Taiwan. The game features stealth-based gameplay, a necessity to escape the stalking ghost, as well as puzzles to somewhat break the tension and exploration to uncover the truth about what’s happening at Tunghu.
Though the film didn’t receive the highest praise from viewers,The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvationgame was popular enough that a sequel,The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication,is currently in development. Featuring another creepyAsian setting, that game will take players to another Taiwanese university known for its unsettling ghost stories.
The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvationis currently available on PC, and PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S versions are currently in development.
