As for what this slice of DLC will be, Capcom doesn’t go into specifics, with the announcement coming via a wall of text following a conversation withResident EvilVillage’sproducer, Tsuyoshi Kanda. This isn’t too much of a surprise considering how popularResident Evil Villagewas upon release, topping May’s sales chartsand amassing great reviews. The title followed up onResident Evil 7’s fresh take on the franchise, returning to a tense, first-person perspective as protagonist Ethan Winters embarked on a perilous journey to save his daughter, Rose. The game leaves a lot of intriguing questions unanswered, soVillagewill have a lot to expand upon when it eventually does delve into its post-launch content.

Resident Evil 7also had its fair share of DLCsback when it launched in 2017, offering various sub-stories branching off the main campaign. For the most part, they fleshed out the events surrounding Ethan’s encounters with the Baker family, showing how the Mold took over their minds and drove them insane. Two of these sections even documented the events that took place after the campaign, with one seeing Chris Redfield pursue Lucas Baker through the game’s monster-filled mines and the other following Jack Baker’s brother punching mutated alligators to save his niece. If Capcom decides to follow a similar path, then players could be in for some alternate perspectives on the events leading up toVillage’s campaign.

The rest of Capcom’s showcase delivered a range of games, includingThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles,Monster Hunter Stories 2,and more. It mostly focused on what players know is coming and getting them excited to dive into a new array of titles. It’s not the only showcase to provide some fresh glimpses at upcoming projects, withMicrosoft providing early looks atHalo Infinite, Stalker 2, Psychonauts 2,Far Cry 6,andBattlefield 2042yesterday, whileSquare Enixhighlighted newLife is Strangefootage and Ubisoft gave fans a closer look atRiders Republicon Saturday. E3 concludes tomorrow with new presentations from both Nintendo and Bandai Namco.
