Though it’s a standalone game in its own right,Call of Duty: Warzoneis still very much a product of the game it spun out from,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which means, to some extent, it’s inherited that game’s penchant for troublesome glitches andfrustratingly cheap tricksthat can sour the fun for players.

Not that this has been stopping it from doing well. Only three days in,Warzoneis off to a great start, having attracted millionsto its fast-paced 150-player battle royale gameplay. A lot of people are loving what it’s offering, but amid all of the praise so far, many fans are finding one glaring flaw, that being that footsteps are pretty much inaudible.

In a first-person shooter, the ability to hear an opponent coming is key to helping players get around their limited perspective and move around without fear of being constantly snuck up on. That’s why players have taken issue with the fact that enemy footsteps don’t seem to register well inWarzone. Footstep volume was somethingModern Warfarealso had difficulty with at launch, except in that case players complained that the footsteps were too loud and distracting.

According toCall of Dutynews site Charlie Intel, this was also the case forWarzoneup until recently. Writing on Twitter, they explained how the footstep audio was too loud at a video capture event where they played the game, but now it appearsInfinity Wardhas taken things too far in the other direction as a result of initial feedback. That being said, Charlie Intel did state that the developer is “actively adjusting and looking at fixing the footstep audio,” so it sounds like this shouldn’t be an issue for too much longer.

Until then, however, players are going to have to figure out a solution to the problem ofCall of Duty: Warzone’s footstep volume on their own. So far, it’s been reported that one can improve the volume through changing up the audio setting they have the game set to (specifically to the one called Boost). It’s not perfect from the sound of it, but it should be better than nothing in the meantime for players eager to have this issue addressed.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis free-to-play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
