Fans of the battle royale are left speculating what it could be.
Activision shared the teaser on Twitter, telling fans that, “An unknown object has arrived in Verdansk,” and asking, “What lies beneath the tarp?” The attached image shows a large, monolith-shaped object covered in a tarp. The object sits in the middle of a flowing courtyard in front ofVerdansk’s stadium. There also appears to be a plaque mostly covered by the tarp at the base of the object, though it could simply part of the object’s concrete foundation.

No further context is provided for the teaser, leavingCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers to speculate what it could be. The leading theory is that it’s a trophy or a statue of some kind, which does seem like the obvious conclusion. Other Twitter users are joking that it’sResident Evil Village’s Lady Dimitrescudue to its height, or jokingly saying it’s theBattlefield 6reveal that’s been rumored recently. One mindful player went ahead and looked in-game for himself, noting that the tarp is pulled up just enough to see the word “Champions” inscribed near the bottom.
Given that the object is located in front of Verdansk 1984’s mid-construction stadium, which implies a relation to sports or competition, mostCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers think that they’ve already got the answer.
