Call of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers can buy a new playable operator, named Mace, from the store as part of amassive update that rolled out today. The character is a member of the Jackals Special Forces within the Allegiance that can be used in the Multiplayer and Special Ops modes.
Mace is a former U.S. Ranger who wears a mask painted like a skull, similar to fan-favorite character Ghostrecently returning from 2009’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and has exposed arms visibly “marked with traditional scars to honor his heritage” according to his background, which was released on the Activision Games Blog. His background text also specifies that he “has earned a reputation for being a vicious operator.”

The Mace Operator Bundle currently available in theCall of Duty: Modern Warfarestore costs 2,400 CP and includes a “Metal Phantom” skin for Mace, a “Bludgeoner” light machine gun and “Skull Hammer” shotgun, a “Skullblade” knife, and a number of other mostly cosmetic items. He joins the Jackals, a private military company and Allegiance sub-faction, alongside its founder Viktor “Zane” Metiko, Azur El-Sarraf, and Grinch.
When the roadmap forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Season 2 was released earlier this month, Mace was revealedalongside Canadian Special Forces soldier Talon, who will be a member of the Coalition opposing the Allegiance. However, there’s currently no word as to when Talon will be available in-game.
While Mace is just one part of the many additions to the game in its second season, players are still waiting to hear more official details on the upcoming leaked Warzone battle royale mode coming toModern Warfare. It was recently found thatActivision filed a DMCA Subpoena against Redditto find the person who leaked the game mode’s existence, so it’s hard to tell whether the developers will be ready to release it soon or not.
In the meantime, the new playable operators, maps, playlists, and more should keep fans of the first-person shooter occupied for some time to come. Plus there are plenty ofglitches and technical issuesstill marring the game that should at least make for some fun stories to peruse online until then.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
