WhileCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warplayers have seen their fair share of glitches and issues, the game has grown a bit more stable in the past few months. There are clearly still some problems, though, with one of the latestCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warbugs found being specific to the Crossbow.

What makes the bug particularly frustrating is how fun the Crossbow is to use in-game. The midseason weapon addition can be deadly in multiplayer if it is in the right hands, as it is a guaranteed one-shot kill. Further, the Crossbow is one of the mostoverpoweredCall of DutyZombies weapons, making it worth the unlock for those that love the classic Survival mode.

To acquire the Crossbow, players canbuy a special weapon bundlefrom the marketplace or complete an in-game challenge. Unfortunately, this challenge is where the glitch comes into play. The task is to get three one shot kills in a single game. Players need to repeat this 15 times to unlock the weapon, a process that will take hours to complete even if gamers find success in 15 straight matches. Several players have put the effort in just to receive nothing though, with Redditor Sagerik being one of them.

As seen clearly in the image, the Crossbow Special Weaponhas had its challenge requirements met. The progress bar shows that the goal was reached in 15 out of 15 matches, yet for some reason, the Crossbow remains locked. Several other posts showing the same issue can be found on theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warsubreddit, with the sheer number of posts requiring that the mods need to delete some of them. Sagerik’s post seems to be filled with commenters having the same exact issue as well.

It is a shame to see players put the work in and get no weapon for their efforts, especially considering that some Redditors like GoButters do not even enjoy multiplayer and simply want the weapon for use in Zombies. Unfortunately, there seems to be no real workaround forCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warfans. Some have suggested that matches where players join late do not count despite appearing as if they do, though the results of doing more seem spotty at best. Other players believe leaving matches can negatively impact the challenge, though many players struggling claim to have never done this.

With Treyarch recently teasing a patch for next week that willfix the RC-XD’s performance, hopefully this frustrating problem is solved as well. After all, not being unable to unlock the Crossbow seems to be one of the most widespread glitches seen for the game thus far.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
