The proper reveal forCall of Duty 2020, rumored to be simply calledCall of Duty: Black Ops, is expected to come at the PS5 reveal event on June 11. Until then, rumors will continue swirling about what exactly the game will entail in terms of features and game modes. The latest rumor aboutCall of Duty 2020comes from a reliable source who claims that it will be bringing back the battle royale mode fromCall of Duty: Black Ops 4.
This news comes from Jeff Grubb, an industry insider known for his accurate leaks. Grubb didn’t divulge any additional details aboutCall of Duty 2020’sBlackout, beyond that it is coming. Grubb said Blackout will be coming “in some form,” though, which could indicate that it may get added toWarzoneor perhaps will be presented in a way that fans wouldn’t expect.

Previously, Infinity Ward has made it clear thatWarzonewill be a constant forCall of Dutygamesmoving forward, which is why many have assumed thatWarzonewill be used asCall of Duty 2020’s battle royale mode. However, if Blackout is truly returning in the new game, it could be a sign that those plans have changed. It’s hard to see why Activision would split up theWarzoneplayer base when the game is so popular, though.
Datamining evidence has suggested thatCall of Duty 2020will haveWarzone, not Blackout, so there is likely more to this than meets the eye. Again, a possibility is that Blackout content will be integrated intoWarzonesomehow. Maybe the rumoredWarzoneSeason 4 map change will see some of its locations replaced with Blackout locations or maybe Blackout will be added to theWarzoneclient as a second map players can battle it out on.
Whatever the case may be, answers should come sooner rather than later. As previously stated, theCall of Duty 2020reveal is expected to take place on June 11 at thePS5 game reveal event, so fans shouldn’t have to wait long at all to find out more concrete information. Typically,Call of Dutygame reveals have focused on the campaign instead of multiplayer or battle royale, so fans should still keep their expectations in check, however.
Call of Duty 2020is in development for unspecified platforms.
