Gearbox Software’sBorderlands 3has been a massive success, shipping 8 million copiesaccording to Take-Two Interactive’s recent earnings call. Today the developers put out a “Community Love Letter” for Valentine’s Day, outlining what’s coming to the game soon and teasing the full reveal of its second DLC campaign at PAX East on Jun 12, 2025.
The letter, posted to theBorderlands 3website, outlines a roadmap of things that will be implemented, but does not give concrete dates for any releases because “there can always be unforeseen challenges when working on patches and hotfixes.” One of the closest updates it touches on is a patch coming sometime this month with “a bunch of highly requested quality-of-life enhancements,” including the ability to toggle aesthetic changes from seasonal events on or off and skipping cutscenes during solo and multiplayer play.

Another impending addition to the game is a level cap increase for all the Vault Hunters from 50 to 53 that will coincide withthe Broken Hearts Day event. A number of other upcoming improvements are coming to the Fight for your Life and Mayhem modes, the ECHOcast Twitch Extension, and a continual stream of balance and stability patches for all platforms.
As far as what Gearbox will reveal during its PAX East panel, which will be streaming on twitch.tv/borderlands at 11:30 a.m. PST, not much has been revealed beyond the developers having “plenty more in store” to meet the evolving needs of the community and provide new content. There have been rumors about moreDLC campaigns coming toBorderlands 3for a while, so its at least nice to know that fans of the looter-shooter will have a better idea of what to expect before the end of the month.
Until then, the Valentine’s Day-themed event should keep everyone busy, and theBorderlands 3team has blatantly expressed how much they’re listening to player feedback with a number of the improvements outlined in today’s informal roadmap. Between seasonal events and surprise content likeRandy Pitchford’s Golden Keycode during the Super Bowl, the game stands ready to last in the public consciousness for some time to come.
Even those who don’t get their looter-shooter fix throughBorderlands 3should keep watching the developer going forward.Gearbox is publishing Counterplay Games’Godfallfor the upcoming PlayStation 5, so there’s plenty of things coming in the popular shooter subgenre to be excited about.
Borderlands 3is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
