It appears thatNobodymight not be the last time we see Bob Odenkirk as an action star. Odenkirk, who starred inNobodylast year and just finished his most iconic role as criminal lawyer Saul Goodman inBetter Call Saul, already has the next phase of his career planned out in his head. That is, as long as Hollywood grants him his desired career path.

In a recent interview withDeadline, Odenkirk admitted that he has an interest in doing more action films. Better yet, he still has a workout regimen that he’s been doing since the filming ofUniversal’sNobody, so he would be in good enough physical shape to do another one.

Odenkirk admitted originally he took onNobodybecause of how much the character reminds him of Saul. “I was very surprised byNobody. I had initiated that project because I had a feeling that the character I was developing inBetter Call Saulwas the kind of character you see in an action film. He has earnest desires, and he was willing to sacrifice himself," Odenkirk said. He later added that he continues doing workouts that would warrant doing another action film if he was ever asked to. “I still train multiple times a week, and if I get my way, you’re going to see me doing more action. I found the action sequences a great deal of fun and close to doing sketch comedy…I lovethe early Jackie Chan films, which had humor in them. I’d like to get that in the future.”

It’s already been confirmed thatNobody 2is currently in production. Not only that, but everyone has been on board for the film’s sequel since the first installment came out. The first film also left plenty of open ends that could certainly fuel a franchise there. Odenkirk pulled off the rather unorthodox action star since he played a man who is going through a midlife crisis after giving up a life of being a hitman to start a family. There’s a lot of material to examine where they could go next. Better yet, with Odenkirk pulling off the action hero as well as he did, combined withNobody’s box office returns, there’s no reason not to hire himfor more action films.

Hollywood has to keep in mind that the one thing they can’t do if they were to hire Odenkirk for more action films is repeat whatNobodyhas already done. Making the action star someone who’s middle-aged will be appealing only for so long until it gets repetitive, much like any other genre. Odenkirk has a charisma where he’s proven not only that he can be an action star, but he can be funny too, so there’s one way to have film integrated into more franchises.

Odenkirk has also proven over the last several years that he can do drama after he masterfully portrayedSaul Goodman inBetter Call Saul. Again, Hollywood should not make him play a similar character to the one he did for 13 years, but they could make have him play an action star with a Greek tragedy. Of course, this will all depend on if Hollywood wants Odenkirk to play the action star more.
