Summary
A teacher is among the most important people in an individual’s life. Not only do they help a person gain knowledge, but they also make their students better humans. InOne Piece, there is no shortage of great teachers.
They have trained their pupils so well that they have gone on to make a name for themselves. However, not all of them have the same level of skill when it comes to training a pupil. Some teachers are vastly superior, which is reflected in their students' strengths and skills.
8Heracles
Student: Usopp
Heracles was Usopp’s trainer during the two-year time-skip. He was extremely knowledgeable about plants and the other creatures on the Boin Archipelago. Heracles managed to survive on the island despite its hostile nature.
Heracles taught Usopp about the fauna, especially Pop Greens, which enabled the latter to create weapons. After the training was complete, Usopp became stronger, and he was able to take on much more powerful opponents.
7Zephyr
Students: Akainu, Kizaru, Momonga, Onigumo
Zephyr is considered a filler character because he has never appeared in the manga. Despite his limited screen time, he is a fan favorite. Zephyr served as the main antagonist ofOne Piece Film: Z. Prior to becoming a villain, Zephyr served as a Marine Admiral.
During his time in the Marines, Zephyr was fully devoted to justice. He took on many students, which included the likes of Kizaru, Akainu, Momonga, Onigumo, etc. Given the fact that they all became very well-known Navy officers, it is clear that Zephyr was among the best teachers inOne Piece. He would have been higher up on the list if he were a canon character.
6Hyogoro
Student: Luffy
Hyogoro is the former yakuza boss of the Flower Capital. He was respected by everyone in Wano because of his chivalrous nature. After the unfortunate death of Oden, Orochi threw Hyogoro in Udon, where he remained for several years.
Inthe Wano Country arc, Luffy saved Hyogoro from certain death. The old yakuza boss was immensely impressed with Luffy’s attitude and decided to teach him about Ryou and its applications. It didn’t take long for Luffy to understand how he could improve his Haki. Upon learning how to use Ryou, Luffy was able to destroy the exploding shackles placed on him.
5Tom
Students: Franky and Iceburg
Tom was a fish-man who lived in Water 7. He was considered the most skilled shipwright in the whole world. People knew about Tom’s talent, and he was everyone’s first choice if they had to get a ship made. In fact, Gol D. Roger’s Oro Jackson was crafted by the master shipwright.
Tom had his own company, which was known as Tom’s Workers. He had Iceburg and Franky working for him. Both individuals had different outlooks, but Tom supported their ideas. Despite Franky’s odd inventions, Tom never rebuked him and praised his young apprentice for his work.
4Dracule Mihawk
Student: Roronoa Zoro
Dracule Mihawkis a former Shichibukaiwho founded the Cross Guild along with Crocodile. He is known as the “Strongest Swordsman in the World,” and people everywhere are aware of his strength. Mihawk made an appearance early in the series when he absolutely decimated Roronoa Zoro.
As fate would have it, the two would meet again, but this time as master and student. Zoro begged his biggest enemy to teach him, and surprisingly, Mihawk accepted. Under his guidance, Zoro learned all about Haki, which enabled the young swordsman to overcome many hurdles after the time-skip.
3Monkey D. Dragon
Students: Sabo, Koala
Monkey D. Dragon is theleader of the Revolutionary Army. Dragon’s powers remain a mystery, but it is safe to assume that he has a great deal of strength. He started the organization with the aim of overthrowing the World Government. Dragon is a busy man, but he always makes time for his fellow Revolutionaries.
Many years prior to the story, Dragon rescued Sabo and took him in. He nourished the kid back to full health, after which Sabo began his training with Dragon. The two focused on hand-to-hand combat, which allowed Sabo to come up with his own combat technique. Dragon has presumably trained Koala, who is among the top officers in the Revolutionary Army.
2Silvers Rayleigh
Silvers Rayleigh used to be the right-hand man of Gol D. Roger. He was the first individual the late Pirate King sought out personally, after which they formed the Roger Pirates. Despite being so old, Rayleigh is still a great fighter, as evidenced byhis fight with Admiral Kizaru.
Rayleigh rescued the Straw Hats from utter annihilation by holding off Kizaru. After the Summit War, Rayleigh took Luffy under his wing and taught him the basics of Haki. Luffy learned about all three types of Haki, which paved the way for him to master their advanced versions. Rayleigh’s training also helped Luffy control his Devil Fruit better.
1Monkey D. Garp
Students: Ace, Luffy, Helmeppo, Koby
Monkey D. Garp is a legendary Marine who has been involved in some of the biggest events inOne Piece. 38 years ago, Garp traveledto God Valley, where he fought alongside Roger to conquer the Rocks Pirates. Despite his heroics, Garp remained a Vice-Admiral.
Since he has been a Marine for such a long time, Garp has trained many people. The first student that he trained was Aokiji, who went on to become an Admiral. He also trained Ace and Luffy, as he wanted them to become Marines. Garp’s next students were Koby and Helmeppo. The latter has become a respectable Marine, while Koby’s among the most well-known fighters in the organization.
