Co-op zombie shooterBack 4 Bloodhas teased some details about its upcomingChildren of the Wormexpansion in a new promotional image. A new campaign act, a new Cleaner, new weapons, enemy types, and more have been revealed along with the release date for the next chapter inBack 4 Blood.Back 4 Bloodwas released in 2021 and developed by Turtle Rock Studios, a team that has a long history with co-op shooters that have influenced many of today’s multiplayer games. Turtle Rock Studios is best known for having developed the highly successful firstLeft 4 Deadgame along with theasymmetrical multiplayer shooterEvolvewhich pitted a team of survivors against one player controlling a monster.Back 4 Bloodis a spiritual successor toLeft 4 Dead, hinted at by the substitution of “for” with “4” in the title. A new playable Cleaner, “Prophet” Dan is an intriguing character with an exquisite mustache wearing an Irish flag, a clover pin, and a stencil of the bible verse Peter 4:12. New cult-themed enemy types such as a sniper and a gas mask-clad enemy carrying strange chemical concoctions represent an interesting departure from the usual undead variants. Eight new character skins and a series of colorful 8-bit weapon skins will also add to the visual diversity when the expansion comes around.

Back 4 Bloodis getting bear trapsand a “Lockjaw” sniper rifle that has a unique design incorporating an animal’s jawbone around the rifle scope. Other as-of-yet unrevealed new weapons, accessories, and cards are also coming with the new expansion.Children of the Wormwill also be building on the game’s original four chapters with the new Act 5 campaign which will likely see the survivors facing off against the new cultist enemies.

Back 4 Blood’sChildren of the WormDLC will release on August 30 and will be free for owners of the game’s Deluxe or Ultimate editions. The expansion will be available either for individual purchase or as part of theBack 4 BloodAnnual Pass. If the price ofBack 4 Blood’s first expansionis any indication, players can expect to pay at least $15 for the new content.
