Summary
AMD Ryzen 8000 series APUs will come with 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU compute units, according to a new leak. This is not the first time this information has leaked about the upcoming next-gen processors, but it brings HWiNFO screenshots with all the information about the APUs. Dubbed the “Strix Point" lineup, the Ryzen 8000 series APUs are expected to be launched next year, but AMD has not shared any information regarding the specifications other than the RDNA 3.5 platform.
According to AMD’s socket roadmap, the AM5 desktop socket that housesZen 4 Ryzen 7000 series CPUswill also work with Zen 5 Ryzen 8000 series chips. These processors are scheduled for next year to compete with Intel’s Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake series. There have also been several rumors and leaks regarding the Ryzen 8000 series. It is believed that the lineup will include 12 hybrid Zen 5 CPU cores, 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores, and two configurations.

The latestleak comes from Performance Databasesand it shows a screenshot of the HWiNFO data for an AMD chip codenamed “Strix Point 1” which is a Ryzen 8000 series APU. It reaffirms previous leaks that claim the Ryzen 8000 series APUs will feature 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU compute units. These APUs will have a Zen 5 and Zen 5C hybrid layout like the previous generation. It should be noted that this is an engineering sample (ES) chip with a 45W TDP. The final specifications may change by the time it officially launches.
This ES chip has an average clock speed of 2.12 GHz and is running alongside 32GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory. HWiNFO data also shows basic iGPU information but mentions 512MB of GDDR6 VRAM, which sounds like an error. It should be noted that HWiNFO does not fully support ES chips, so some of the data may be incorrect.
The Ryzen 8000 series APUs are expected to come in two configurations: a monolithic and a chiplet design. The monolithic APUs are said to come with a single CCD (Core Complex Die) with dual CCX (Core Complex). One CCX will feature four cores and eight threads based on the Zen 5 CPU cores. The other CCX is said to come with eight cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 5C CPU cores. The 8000 series APUs are also said to come with 8 WGPs (Work Group Processors) and up to 1024 stream processors.
AMD will release the next generation of APUs in 2024, most likely in the second half of the year. The companyrecently unveiled its Radeon 7800 XT and 7700 XT graphics cardsthat will go on sale from September 6. That coincides with the release ofStarfield.
