It has been a long wait for news regardingAEW Fight Foreverand its release date. Now that THQ Nordic and Yuke’s have confirmed a June 29 launch, they’re able to shift toward more exciting reveals. That includes gameplay for Orange Cassidy, one of AEW’s most popular wrestlers best known for mixing his penchant for laziness into his ring-work.Orange Cassidy is currently AEW’s International Champion, a title he’ll be defending this weekend duringAEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view eventin a Blackjack Battle Royale against 20 other men. Cassidy’s title run has been warmly embraced, not just because Cassidy is an exciting wrestler but because of his unique personality. In a recent livestream from AEW Games, a match featuring Orange Cassidy was shared. The match, which featured Jungle Boy as an opponent, shows several excellent on-brand Orange Cassidy moments. They include his casual half-thumbs-up entrance, his Orange Punch Signature move, the Beach Break, putting his hands in his pockets, and even pinning an opponent while still having his hands in his pockets.
Admittedly, thegameplay shown ofAEW Fight Foreveris being played by Orange Cassidy himself. Orange Cassidy is a known video game fan but doesn’t necessarily have as much time withAEW Fight Foreveras he’d like. There are almost certainly a number of other Orange Cassidy moves, taunts, and character quirks to discover inAEW Fight Forever.
TheAEW Fight Foreverroster is currently confirmed to feature over 50 different wrestlers from the promotion and its partners. Over 40 of these wrestlers have already been confirmed, including Orange Cassidy. Other fan favorites, including Kenny Omega, CM Punk, and evenWWE wrestler Cody Rhodes, have also been confirmed.
AEW Fight Foreveris intended to be more of a casual-friendly arcade game than a modern wrestling simulation experience, like theWWE 2Kfranchise. It’s inspired by classicpro wrestling games likeWWF No MercyandDef Jam Vendetta, instead. Expect a lot of additional information aboutAEW Fight Foreveras it approaches its late June launch.
