Release dates for video games are always finicky. Even when a company announces an exact day, most gamers won’t believe it until the copies are on shelves or on their hard drives. The following games listed below are all announced to come out in 2022, but it is difficult to believe these without any precise date.

While many of these games are big names and fans want them as soon as possible, the developers also need as much time as necessary to make a great product in a healthy way. Besides, there is never a shortage of quality games on the immediate horizon to look forward to.
10God Of War: Ragnarök
God of Warproved to be one of the best games on the PS4 in 2018. PlayStation fans are eagerly awaiting the follow-up,which looks to answer all the burning questions from the prior entry.
Trailers have only increased the hype. Even if the gameplay does not look to be radically different from its predecessor,God of Warhas an incredible narrative and fans simply cannot wait to see what happens next.
The firstDead Spacewas a breath of fresh air for the survival horror genre.In an era where theResident Evilgames were focusing on action,Dead Spaceslowed down the pace and created a terrifying atmosphere filled with grotesque creatures.
After being dormant for almost a decade, a full-fledged remake of the first game is set to come out at the end of this year. Previews already look promising, showcasing a loyalty to the original game’s tone.
8Dune: Spice Wars
Duneas a franchise is in a better place than ever with the new movie’s success. It only feels right for there to be a game announced, too.Dune: Spice Warsis an honest-to-goodness RTS.

The genre is not in the place it once was, but if anything can bring it back, it isDune. 7A Plague Tale: Requiem
A Plague Taletakes clear influence from games likeThe Last of Usbut tells a completely different story in a setting rarely explored in gaming. The plot is centered around therelationship between the playable protagonist and her younger brother survivingthrough a supernatural plague perpetuated by vicious rats.
The sequel looks to expand on that and will likely expand upon the implications of the first game’s ending. In addition to the story, the gameplay should see several enhancements as well.
6Scorn
Just looking at the trailers forScornsends chills down people’s spines. The developer has given the public glimpses of gameplay, but that was almost two years ago.
Development forScornstarted in 2014 and went through numerous hurdles, including anunsuccessful Kickstarter campaignbefore landing the Microsoft exclusivity deal. It’ll come out on PC too, but no PS5 release will happen. Here’s hoping the game actually comes out this year after so many years already in development.
5System Shock Remake
System Shockis a legendary titlethat influenced many first-person games likeDeus Exand even more modern immersive sims. There is aSystem Shock 3in the works as well, but alongside that is a complete remake of the debut entry.
Night Dive Studios is working on it, and its expertise with remasters proves the project is in good hands. Unlike the studios' other works, this is built from the ground up, which is probably why it has been taking so long to make.
4Multiversus
Recent years have seen theadvent ofSuper Smash Bros.clones.Multiversusis another one to add to the list. This one will be free-to-play and is set to pit numerous Warner Bros. characters against each other.
It is hard to tell if it will play well or not, but the free-to-play angle has many worried about predatory microtransactions. As long as in-game purchases don’t give one an advantage in the battles, it could be a fun party fighter.
3Hogwarts Legacy
Harry Potterforever remains a popular IP, even if its creator has been thesubject of controversy in recent years due to transphobic comments.
Hogwarts Legacywill let players live in and explore the world ofHarry Potterin a way no game has ever allowed. There were rumors the game will be pushed back into 2023, but acontradictory leakstates the RPG will come out in the third quarter of this year.
2Bayonetta 3
Many fans might be disappointed thatBayonettais exclusive to Nintendo, but the franchise might not have lasted past the first entry without the company’s involvement.Bayonetta 3was announced years ago and went dark until a 2021 trailer confirmed its continued development.

Bits of gameplay were finally shown, but a specific release date was announced beyond the fact that it’s apparently coming in 2022. All the same, fans would like to see more before fully believing the game to come out this year. There is still plenty of time to play the first two games beforeBayonetta 3comes out.
1The Breath Of The Wild Sequel
People are starting to think Nintendo might have announced this game too soon. The first teaser was shown in 2019 and the next trailer didn’t come out until 2021. Because of this, many are skeptical it will come out in 2022.
Still, with the Nintendo Switch going on five years old, the game will have to come out sooner before a successor to the hybrid console is announced and comes out.Details are still sparse on the gameplay,but it looks like Link will explore floating landmasses and will have new powers to use in the open world.
