The most recent entry in theGuilty Gearseries,Guilty Gear Striveis already shaping up to be the most popular entry in the series history, bringing countless new players toGuilty Gear.Withoutstanding net code, fantastic gameplay, and some of the most impressive visuals in fighting game history, there’s a lot to appreciate aboutStrive. However, one of the few common criticisms of the game is its somewhat sparse roster size of fifteen characters at launch.

Luckily, the first season of DLC characters has already been confirmed for the game, meaning that its roster will be growing with time.Guilty Gearis a series with a franchise with a deep well of characters so there are many outstanding potential choices.
10A.B.A.
A.B.A is a homunculus that hasn’t been playable in aGuilty Geargame sinceGuilty Gear XX.While she is initially one of the least mobile members of the roster, A.B.A utilizes a unique playstyle that allows her to temporarily power herself up, providing her with significant power and speed boost. A.B.A. is the perfect type of character that could be a throwback for veteran players while further diversifying the roster with a new play style.
9Slayer
Guilty Gear Striveis the first coreGuilty Geargame to not feature the Slayer in its roster sinceGuilty Gear X.Slayer is arushdown characterthat focuses heavily on horizontal momentum.

While the game currently features several rushdown characters such as Chip and Milia, each of these characters approaches offense differently, providing players with additional options.
8Zappa
While Zappa hasn’t been playable in aGuilty Geargame sinceGuilty Gear XXlike A.B.A., he was actually featured in the story ofGuilty Gear Xrd.A flexible yet complicated character that is based around various cursed summons and ghosts that possess him, Zappa has much in common with the puppetcharacter archetype. AsStrivecurrently does not feature a playable puppet character, this feels like the perfect role for Zappa to fill as a DLC character.
7Robo Ky
Last appearing inGuilty Gear Xrd’s story, Robo Ky is perhaps one of the most subversive characters in the franchise. As a robot created to look like Ky, one may anticipate that Robo Ky functions like aclone character.

On the contrary, Robo Ky totes one of the most unique play styles in the series, having several moves that make hilarious use of his robotic nature as well as a unique heat meter that must be managed over the course of a game. Unfortunately, like Zappa, Robo Ky hasn’t been playable sinceGuilty Gear XX.
6Johnny
A fan-favorite character in his own right, Johnny is a captain of the Jellyfish Pirates, the same sky-pirate crew that is home to the increasingly popular May. Johnny is a somewhat balanced character that functions quite well at mid-range, using projectiles and pokes, allowing him to serve as another all-arounder for the game’s roster. While he was a DLC character inGuilty Gear Xrd,Johnny has been playable in each core entry of the series sinceGuilty Gear X.
5Dizzy
Like Johnny, while Dizzy was not initially playable inGuilty Gear Xrd —she was added to the game post-launch as DLC. Dizzy is a half-gear and one of the most powerful characters within the series lore. Dizzy is a central character toGuilty Gear, married to one of the franchise’s protagonists, Ky. As Dizzy is a fan-favorite and she makes a cameo appearance inStrive,it’s likely that she’ll be made playable inStrive’s lifetime.
4Testament
While the gear Testament was once an important key character within the story ofGuilty Gear,he was completely absent fromGuilty Gear Xrd.Playable in the very first entry in the series, Testament fights using a massive scythe and projectiles, allowing him to zone out his opponents with his special moves and normals alike.
As Testament makes an appearance in the story ofStriveand the game doesn’t currently feature too many long-range fighters, we’re hopeful of a future appearance from Testament.

3That Man
Despite being one of the most integral characters to the lore ofGuilty Gear, specificallythe story of Sol Badguy, the character simply known as That Man has never been playable. While the character is frequently quite elusive and largely absent from the center stage of the story, he is featured prominently withinGuilty Gear Strive’s story mode and already has a model within the game. If That Man were to ever be made playable within aGuilty Geargame, it would be inStrive.
2Aria
A character with similar circumstances as That Man, Aria is an incredibly important character within the story ofGuilty Gear, already having a model within the game. Using the same body as Jack O fromGuilty Gear Xrd, a playable iteration of Aria could blend elements of Jack O’sXrdgameplay with new mechanics, creating a character that builds upon the past to make a new and engaging member of the roster.
1Goldlewis
Introduced inGuilty Gear Strive’s story, Goldlewis Dickinson is the righthand man of the president of the United States of America, wielding a coffin that contains an alien from Area 51 as a weapon. Yes, that’s seriously his weapon.
Despite this brand new character’s introduction withinStrive, he is currently not playable. As a brand new character, the sky is the limit for his playstyle, as he can fit any character archetype that the game needsfrom a zonertoa grappler. Due to the fact that Goldlewis’s model already exists withinStrive, not making him playable at some point within the game’s lifespan feels like it would be a crime.
